Buyers and tenants make up their minds about a place before they get to the front door. The good news is the outside is usually the cheapest part of a house to fix up.
1. Clean the driveway and paths
It is the first thing people walk on and the first thing in the listing photos. A pressure clean can make a twenty-year-old driveway look close to new.
2. Mow, edge and blow
A freshly mown lawn with sharp edges says the place has been looked after. Book it a few days before photos or the first inspection.
3. Trim the hedges and tidy the beds
Overgrown hedges make a house look smaller and darker. Square them up, pull the weeds and add fresh mulch.
4. Spray the weeds
Weeds in the lawn, in the cracks of the path and along the fence line all get noticed. A weed spray a couple of weeks before photos gives it time to die back.
5. Wash the house down
Dust, cobwebs and mould on the outside walls show up in every listing photo, and a stained roof is visible from the street and in every drone shot. A house and roof wash down is one of the best value jobs before a sale.
